We have been looking at motorhomes for many reasons and just recently found one that we feel will meet our needs. We drove to Little Rock, Arkansas to trade for a 2007 Phaeton 40'. It looks in good shape and has a number of things we were hoping for. The people at Crain RV were all so very nice and helpful. It was sad to leave our Excel which has been home for us since 07. This is just another door closing with another door opening in our lives. We are excited. We forgot to bring our camera with us so no pictures yet.
We did not get much rest this last week. The weather has been bad and we have been dodging storms and tornadoes. We spent one night in West Memphis, Arkansas on the Mississippi River at Tom Sawyer RV Park. We found ourselves in a very small bathroom seeking shelter from the storm with tornado warnings with 3 other people and three dogs. Katie was not with us. We rented her a two-room condo with a view of bird feeders. Other than a few small limbs down in our area, we found no other damage. We stayed in our motorhome in Little Rock on the Arkansas River and in Red Bay, Alabama.
We have much to learn about motorhomes. I drove the Freightliner back while Allan drove the motorhome. We have left the MH in Red Bay for about a week for modifications so I can have my stacked washer and dryer.
While we were in Little Rock, we left our Jeep at an RV dealer in Calera to be fitted for a base plate and tow bar. We are trying to get all these alterations done in a short period of time so we can leave by the first of May as we are scheduled to be in western Colorado June 1.
While we are waiting for this work to be done we are going through pictures and boxes to downsize even more.
