Richard and Allan have been working on the laundry room. Richard has been finishing the floors, walls and ceilings. Everyone will be happy to have washers and dryers to use.
Here is a picture of some of the MAPS RV's.
This is a huge tree across from the library. I wonder how old it is? If trees could only talk.
Saturday was moving day. This is our group. Richard was fishing on the mesa with his son. The dog is Bella. She lives at Camp Cedaredge and is such a socialite. She never meets a stranger.
We have so enjoyed working with Glenn who is the maintenance manager. We don't know the full extent of Glenn's talents, but he sure can play numerous instruments. Glenn you still owe me a ride on your motorcycle.
This is Eric, a great intern who has helped us with our TV. Allan and I seem to be very challenged in this area.
The interns and Lee and Renae were great people to work with and made our stay so enjoyable. We shall return!!! We will miss everyone. I will miss the kitties and momma cat.
Allan was told by Richard that he was going to chain the RV so we couldn't leave. When Allan got to the security gate to leave, it wouldn't open. My first thought was Richard had come down from the mesa and locked the gate. Since we had to gas up the car and RV and get LP, I drove the car to Delta after stopping at the library to return my last American History DVD. We had lunch at McDonalds, hooked up the car and were on our way. As we entered I-70 we took a few pictures. One was an area of orchards and vineyards; a contrast from the other picture of dry mountains.
This is a dam on the Colorado River east of Grand Junction.
They were drilling for oil just off the Interstate.
We saw a lot of rafters.
Looks like fun.

Where the canyon narrowed the highway had to be elevated one above the other.

We followed a coal train for a while, until it went into a tunnel.
We spent the night dry camping at the fairgrounds in Eagle, Co. It was our RV and a few 18 wheelers. It was a nice view. We could not get the generator to start so we had no a/c. It was warm when we pulled in, but cooled down enough that Allan had to turn off the fan and pull up the covers.
That little car just followed us everywhere we went.
Sunday we got up rather tired as it took us a long time to get to sleep. We went to bed earlier than we usually do so I suppose our mental clocks were still keeping late hours. We rarely get to bed before 12 or 1 am.
Sunday our drive was through higher mountains and deeper canyons.
Yes, Jeanne, there still is snow on the mountains and this is August 21.
There were miles and miles of biking trails along the interstate. And they were being used heavily.
We saw what appeared to be a cancer run with great participation.
This is inside the Eisenhower Tunnel. I was glad to get out of there. Would hate to have an accident inside the tunnel. Help! I need air!
On our way to the Denver area we had a message code come up about the transmission, but we had no problem getting to our destination. We stayed at Cherry Creek State Park. It was a nice park, but we were at a lower altitude and it was much warmer. We plugged in to electricity and our DVD player smoked and the a/c made a racket and quit running. Another night with no a/c. Apparently there is some electrical problem.
Monday, Allan called about having the RV looked at. We have an appointment for tomorrow morning in Aveda. We stopped at a Speedco to have our oil changed. This was our first time using a Speedco and Allan was very pleased with the service. This is like Express Oil Change back in Alabama for cars except they do big trucks and motorhomes. From there we traveled to Fort Collins area where we had reservations for Horsetooth Reservoir. We have a view of the lake. There are ducks and geese around. Katie spent most of her time watching all the people going by walking, running, or biking.
