We have not posted in a long time so I would like to give you an overview of our stay here at Camp Wilderness. We plan to leave next Saturday for Birmingham.
Allan took a group of our RVers for a paddle on the Peace River. No incidents or alligators. Joyce did get thrown backwards in the canoe as they were pulling the canoe to shore. She was wedged in between the seat and canoe with her safety vest on and legs and arms up in the air. She was laughing so hard she could not get up. This reminded the group of a turtle on its back.
Our group drove to Platt City for strawberry shortcake and the farmers market with fresh vegetables and fruit. Later that day Allan and I drove to Bartow for a Rancher's Rodeo. The events were a bit different from a regular rodeo. Last month I was disappointed that we didn't get to see the pro-rodeo, but I think I enjoyed this one just as much and it was closer.
Last Sunday after church we headed for Sarasota to visit Paul, Allan's brother and his cousin, Becky and her husband, Bob. We made a quickie walk on the beach, but since it was the coldest day in Florida we didn't stay long.
On the job Allan has been fabricating steel structures for rolling ovens and doing plumbing in the bathrooms and setting up a sprinkler system for all the flowers that have been planted. Everyone has worked so hard and the camp looks so improved. The ladies have been helping out in many ways. Some of the jobs have included washing windows, cleaning ceiling fans, putting rubber caps on several hundred chairs, staining and painting, and power washing.
We had a nice visit with Jean and Alwyn Marland from England. We met her about 8 years ago at a guest ranch in Colorado. They were here vacationing with family.
Our group had a super bowl party, fish fry and attended a southeast regional MAPS meeting, bowling, church revival, and a Valentine celebration at a steak house. Allan and I went to the movie "Safe Haven" a Nicolas Sparks novel to celebrate Valentines. The group has a birthday celebration for Joel and Allan during our break time. As you can tell there is a lot of food involved in our work and activities.
I am continuing my exercises at a local therapy facility. I rarely use my cane now.
