SEGAR COLONY, Clinton, Ok

Sept. 24th, Wednesday, we left Amarillo and had planned to spend the night in Elk City, OK. but before we could reach our destination it was time for Jeanne to get on the Internet for a conference call class through Workampers, so we pulled off at a picnic area. This lasted for over an hour. We decided to drive on the Clinton, OK. where we set up the trailer and drove to Colony, OK.

John Segar founded this town with a band of Indians he brought from the main reservation from Ft. Reno in the 1800's following the famous Custer's last stand when the Indians were brought to Oklahoma. John Segar was Allan's great-grandfather's brother. He was a friend to the Indians and a go between the government and the Indians. John Segar helped establish a school for the Indian children and also helped get the Indians provisions until they could support themselves.

On the way back from Colony, we passed over 100 wind generators that must have been at least 80 feet tall. We have seen these generators going up all over the Midwest. We are glad to see this alternative energy being made use of. We end the day with a setting sun.
