ARKANSAS

We drove to Jacksonport, Ar and camped at Jacksonport State Park. This is a nice state park right on the White River. Lots of room between campsites. We attended a talk on the area woodpeckers which was interesting. We helped rescue a cat that had climbed a tree. The owners had a lease on the cat, but while climbing the tree got the lease wound around different limbs.
This weekend Newport, Ar was celebrating Depot Days. We met Jim and Shirley Gatlin, friends who taught our Life Groups class at Kingwood before moving to Arkansas, for supper and attended church with them on Sunday morning. We so much enjoyed visiting with them and meeting their dog, Maggie. They gave us a tour of the town including the prison where Shirley works.
Sunday, we traveled to Missouri and visited Eugenia Bush, a dear friend of my aunt and Paul William Hill, nephew of my uncle, in Charleston. Jim and Carlene Burden (Sikeston) have graciously offered their house to us again. We had a wonderful meal at a new Italian restaurant.
