busy bees

The building project is coming along. The roofing plywood and plastic covering were installed today over the sanctuary. Rain is predicted for tomorrow. They were installing the baptismal unit and form walls for the activities building. No one has been hurt on the job. The roofing contractor's son came in today with 15 stitches down the side of his head and a broken ear drum from bull riding. A bull stepped on his head. Ouch! As soon as he can put a cowboy hat back on his head, he said he would be back riding the bulls. Cowboy up!

Weekend before last we were invited to Jim and Lynne Parker's house for supper. It was so good to see them. We had never seen their house. Lynne and I have something in common. (a love for horses, but we had to sell our horses due to physical problems). Their house is beautiful and Jim has done some great tile work. Tammy, their daughter, brought an old friend home with her. It was good to talk with her. They fed us a wonderful meal and we just enjoyed their company. Lynne even gave us some fresh lettuce from her garden and lemons.

We were invited to Joe and Bea Williams's house on Sunday afternoon for lunch. We had not seen them in years. Joe and Bea are friends from the Montevallo Baptist Church. They have such a nice garden home right on the golf course. They are such a neat couple who will always be young no matter how old they are.

We visited the Naval Air Museum in Pensacola. It was very interesting. We got there late so we hope to go back to see more in February.

Butch Walker picked us up tonight and took us out to the Olive Garden. It was good to see a familiar face. He is always fun to be around.

We have been very busy with work here at the church and elsewhere. I have not had much time to blog. Sorry to take so long in getting this going. If it is not too dreary and rainy tomorrow, I hope to get pictures of the progress of the church building. What a difference. The ladies have started a Beth Moore Bible Study on Believing God which I am excited about. We also have a prayer time one afternoon a week. The guys have started a study on the names of God. We go out to eat on Thursday nights as a group and after church on Sunday. Then we get ice cream later on Sunday afternoon. The ladies are cooking a big lunch for all the workers Monday through Friday. To say the least, we are not dieting. My knee is coming along ok. Yancy will be taking me back on Friday to her house for the weekend. She is having a housewarming party. I am looking forward to spending some time with her.
