Thursday morning Allan had to walk back up to the shop which was three miles. He was eyed by pronghorns on his walk. They finished the job at 5pm. We got a bite to eat and headed for the canyon where our trailer was left. The journey took us through wide open dry prairie land for about two hours. On the way we were surprised by a moose crossing the road. You just don't see moose in this type of terrain or so we also saw a coyote on the side of the road and it wasn't road kill. Since it was so late we decided to stay at the campground. The weather was nice.
Friday morning we drove through
Thermopolis, home of the hot springs, but did not have time to stop.

We made it to Cody and on to our campground near Wapiti. We got a shower and headed for Yellowstone National Park to meet some friends from
Montevallo. We were able to do a little sightseeing. We saw the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone and the upper and lower falls.

The rock walls of one side of the canyon were yellow which gave the name Yellowstone to the park. The other side of the canyon was multi-colored. There is typically no phone service in the park, but we were at a high elevation and Jeanne was able to use the cell phone successfully. On the road to the picnic area we were stopped by many buffalo crossing the road for a drink from the river.

We also got to see and smell the hot mud and sulfur pots.

Jean and Liz Page were at the picnic area waiting to greet us. They have been working several summers our of West Yellowstone with the Baptist Church. They work with college students that are doing summer work at Yellowstone and are part of a Christian witness program. There about 90 young park employees from many countries attending the picnic. It was dark by the time we left the park, but we did manage to see some elk along the road. It was 11:30 by the time we returned to our campground.
We had planned to drive the
Beartooth Scenic Highway but were just too tired on Saturday morning. We drove into Cody in the afternoon after taking a nap. We had supper, watched a gunfight on the street, bought a few groceries, and attended a rodeo.

Today we are packing up and heading for Billings, Mt for our next volunteer job.
