Our travels took us around Boston pulling the trailer without any problems. We continued through New Hampshire to Eliot, Me at Indian River Campground. It required following a long, muddy, one lane road with huge holes for about a mile to the campground. We found the sites were too small to pull into and it was very primitive. Allan was outside for only a few minutes and we found 2 ticks on him. It didn't take long to decide this was not the right campground for us. We contacted another campground which had just opened. We were extremely happy with Red Apple Campground. We got several loads of clothes washed. On Friday we drove to Manchester, NH to pick Yancy up at the airport.
On Sunday we got up early and drove to Boston to meet a bus for a tour of the city. Our bus driver was Rob and he took 7 other people from New York, Pa, Ca and Bangkok, Thailand and the three of us on an delightful, informative tour. One of our stops was Fenway Park. They had a special celebration going on since it was Mother's Day and we got to go into the park to take pictures. In front of Faneuil Hall was Quincy Market. This was a long market full of places to eat. There was such a wide
variety of food from many countries. We went to the US Naval yard and museum to visit the USS Constitution (Old Ironsides) and WWII destroyer. We saw several old churches including the Old North Church and Paul Revere's statue. Other things we saw included the Old State House (the site of the Boston Massacre), Ben Franklin statue, Cheers bar, Copps Hill burial Ground, Harvard, MIT, Cambridge, Ma, site where battle of Bunker Hill was fought.
We moved to Bucksport, Me to Shady Oaks Campground. It is quaint and the owners were very nice and extremely helpful. We drove to Castine to see the Maritime Academy and see the area housing and view of the bay. We then drove to Fort Knox across from Bucksport and explored the granite and earth fort that guarded the river.
