We arrived at Valley Forge Christian College on Monday. The college has several hook ups for RV's. There are teams that come in during the summer when no classes are being held for larger projects. They welcome RVers to come in at other times to help with maintenance and improvements. One man on staff, Steve, is retiring in June and he and his wife, Nancy, will be RV MAPS volunteers at that time. He already has his trailer and is staying on site. Another couple came in on Tuesday. Don and Carole Visser are from south of Boston. The whole staff is very appreciative of the help that the RVers contribute. Not only do they provide our site, but they also give us free meals in the cafeteria.
Allan and Don worked on exterior windows on one of the main buildings scraping, caulking and painting. Carole and Jeanne helped out in the Administrative building doing office projects for different departments. Every one is so nice to work with.
The college buildings were previously a WWII army hospital. It was purchased by the college from the government after the base closed. Many improvements have been made. They have also built several new buildings since the purchase.
