We have been working so hard that we have been too tired to even think about putting words to our blog. I am in much better shape now. I can make it up the hill to our RV without being out of breath and my knees are feeling better most days. Allan and I are both cutting back on food and I am cutting back on meat especially the four legged kind. Allan has had two appointments at the VA. He was very impressed with the VA in Spokane. The foot x-ray showed no broken bones and the ultrasound was basically normal. Blood work was good but needs to lower his cholesterol. I came down with nausea, vomiting and a temp of 101. Just slept through the whole weekend. It may have been appendix or gall bladder acting up. Who knows and who cares. I am better.
Spokane seems like a pretty nice town. It has all the shopping and restaurants you could want except Chik-fil-a.
The Spokane river runs through the city. They have a riverfront park which looks neat. Lots of people go there. The falls are in the park area.
They have bridges and a tram that you can view the falls from different angles. How about these runners.
This unusual building is located in Medical Lake, the town where our camp is.
Last week we had 220 kids from a local high school for a fun day. There are so many activities they can participate in. Basketball, boating, swimming, soccer, miniature golf, trampoline on the water, zip line and cable swing. We fed them lunch.
This week we had a wide variety of ages of Missionettes for several days.
I am still working on landscaping. Allan is working on the plumbing on the bathrooms for some of the cabins, installing flooring and doing miscellaneous finishing work. Allan dropped his new phone of a month into a commode he was working on (not using). Fried it! We decided to buy a used phone and hope that it works long enough.
Katie has been very busy, too. Allan put up the two bird feeders and we have had many visitors including two chipmunks who climb the pole and help themselves. Katie is beside herself.
She jumps at the birds but falls to the floor and them back up in the window for the next bird. I looked out one morning and saw a male and female California quail with 10 babies. It was a cold day and the babies huddle under mom and dad for warmth. In this picture you can only see the adults, but the babies are under there somewhere.
We took a trip today to Ellensburg which is about a 2 1/2 hours drive for the dachshund festival. We had a ball watching all the little weeny dogs parade around in every kind of costume and every color.
There were different competitions with trophies for the winners. They announced the oldest dog and the dog that had traveled the farthest which I think was West Virginia. One contest was the best trick and of course, they had races.
It was so comical watching the flopping ears run down the grassy lane.
Some never made it to the end as they were distracted by one thing or another.
Dogs of other breeds were on lookers, probably dachshund wannabes.
On our way to Ellensburg, we stopped at a scenic view overlook of a deep gorge and the Columbia River. It was very overcast and had started raining so the pictures were not the greatest.
We also past an area where they were erecting wind generators.
We lost one of our RV MAPS volunteers to a massive heart attack. Allan had worked with him on Friday of last week. Prayers to Cathy, his wife, and their family. John will be missed by all who knew him.
