We arrived in LaSalle, Co. at the Lighthouse Community Church on August 1st. We were the only RV MAPS workers here. There were a lot of small jobs that needed attention, but the first thing on the list was moving a 15 x 20 building estimated at 6000 pounds to the church property. (not a small task) It took a week to get the building prepared for the move. A contractor poured the slab for the building. Allan had to brace up the building and get it prepared to load on a trailer. It required being jacked up two feet high to get it under the trailer. They put two 20 foot steel beams under the building on top of the trailer and strapped it down for the move. Every thing went flawless. The move was about two blocks. It was backed up on the pad. The storage building was jacked up to pull the trailer out and then lowered it onto the pad. It was squared up and anchored. Allan ran the electric power to the building and wired it. Our last full day there was July 31.
That is Pastor John driving.
Everyone in the church was very friendly and helpful. The town is not far from Greeley where we frequented for any shopping needs me might have. They have two health food stores which makes me happy. I did not realize how large a town Greeley is. The 2010 census shows it at near 93,000 people. The University of Northern Colorado is located here. What a nice looking campus, but really spread out.
We went to Loveland several times. I like that town. It is a smaller town than Greeley by the 2010 census at 67,000 population. It has a Chick-fil-A. There are many lakes in the area and it is on the way to Rocky Mountain National Park. "The Sweetheart City" is its nickname.
