While we were in Cedaredge, friends of ours Dick and Artis took us to Ouray and Silverton. Ouray is in a valley surrounded by tall, beautiful mountains.
We took pictures while in town and places in the area. While we were there someone had gotten married and pictures were being taken with them standing in the middle of the main street. So we snapped a shot of them, too.
Here are some of the sights on the drive between Ouray and Silverton.
The road clung to the side of the mountain in many places.
I was surprised to see so many RV's (larger size) parked in the RV park in Silverton. The road from Silverton to Ouray is very windy and close to the mountain on one side and a complete drop off, never to be seen again, on the other side. That is not a road I would drive our MH on. Some have been damaged by the mountain sticking out in the road. The other way in from Durango may be a little better but that is a climb and descent on the return. There is not a whole lot to the town and from what I understand not many people stay there in the winter. Several years ago we were in Durango and took the bus up and the train back down in snow which made a nice trip. They have some unique eating establishments. Of course, they have shopping. No Wal-Mart. It is a very old mining town.
I just had to add two beautiful hanging baskets.
