FMCA RALLY

It finally quit raining and the temperature warmed so we were able to get some work done on the truck and 5th wheel in preparation for our move. As we came into Perry, Ga. we stopped at a church that was built by RV MAPS last year where we were able to fill up our fresh water tank. We are now parked at the Ag-center in Perry, Ga. for the FMCA rally which will start in the morning. We thought we could view a few new motorhomes even though we are looking at used ones to buy. Things change from year to year and we like to keep abreast of them. Allan would also like to sit in some seminars dealing with motorhome functions that differ with 5th wheel functions. The week looks like it will be nice. We shouldn't need a/c or heat which is good since we are dry camping. Jeanne will be leaving Tuesday to return to Alabama. She will be taking our daughter to the hospital for a procedure and will need a driver.

I put in some pictures of the rally. We were told there were 2500 motorhomes there. It was acres and acres.

When we returned back to Alabama we stayed at our other daughter's house, Venus, which is in Alabaster. We had business on that side of Birmingham and wanted to attend our church (Kingwood Church). They were having Mission Sunday and Tablescapes which is the mission's banquet. There many tables decorated in different themes.

We have seen all the doctors and dentists and other business that needed attending to. Our next project is in Colorado so we will have to leave here some time during the month of April. The weather has been rainy and stormy. Temperatures have been in the 40s and 50s. This weekend they are predicted to be in the 70s and 80s. We will probably roast now.

The Berrydale, Florida job is completed as far as the RV MAPS volunteers can do. The carpet is being laid and all that is remaining before they can occupy the building is the landscaping and driveway. I know they will be so happy to move in.

MEDICAL APPOINTMENTS

We have had several doctor's appointments and our colonoscopies this week. We both are cleared for another 3-5 years. I am battling allergies, coughing and lost my voice. I have never had spring allergies other than last year in Phoenix, Az. I may find myself at the ENT doc for allergy testing again.

We are scheduled to attend the FMCA Rally in Perry, Ga. Looking forward to that. Since we have our rig up for sale and are wanting to purchase a motorhome, we hope to learn lots of info on motorhomes at this rally.

We may not post anything until after the rally. Our life should be uneventful until then.

ROAD TO THE HORSE

On Thursday we left Calera, Al. and traveled to Murfreesboro, Tn to attend "Road to the Horse" which was my Christmas present. That night a bad weather front came through with tornado, thunder storms, hail and heavy rain warnings. Most of the participants and attendees of this event found themselves in the "tunnel" of the Miller Coliseum, a safe place. Many of these people were traveling with their dogs so, of course, they brought the dogs to the safe place, too. Katie was the only cat that we saw there. She was in her carrier and very quiet so the dogs never knew she was in their presence. When everyone decided it was safe to return to their RV, they found no damage. There were some areas in Tennessee and Kentucky that were hit by tornadoes and straight line winds.



Let me try to explain what Road to the Horse is. It is a horse event that is held each year in Murfreesboro, Tn. They invite 3 horse clinicians to compete in starting a colt in a 2 day time frame. They use natural horsemanship techniques. At the end of so many hours with the horse during the two days there is a test of a certain number of maneuvers they have to complete and are given points, like walking over a large plastic tarp, walk, trot and canter in each direction and pick up each foot. were the clinicians. Chris Cox won this year which is his 3rd year to win. Clinton Anderson had won twice previously and this was Pat Parelli's first time to compete.

These were young horses, probably 3 years old that had only been on the ranch and not handled. They were brought out as a group first before the three were chosen. I thought it really funny to watch them look at the big screen TV. They were fascinated with themselves. I am not really sure if they knew what they were looking at, but they were looking.

They all three did a wonderful job. There was entertainment during the three day event along with loads of shopping.

We left Murfreesboro on Sunday afternoon even though we were scheduled to stay until Monday because of another bad weather front coming through on Monday. We got out with ease and beat the rain. Allan and I pulled into a McDonalds and spent the night in north Alabama. Our next overnight stop was back at Sun Coast RV for one night and then moved to Birmingham South RV for the rest of the week. We have several doctor's appointments scheduled this week and our colonoscopies on the south side of town.
