ARCHES NATIONAL PARK

I almost forgot to include our pictures from Arches National Park.  We visited this park in the month of May which is one of the busiest times for the park.  Not too many people want to be there in the hot summer months. 

There was snow in the higher elevations of distant mountain ranges.

It is amazing how the weather, rain and wind has sculptured the rocks into so many different shapes. If you look closely what appears like ants are people which gives you some perspective of the size of these massive works of art.

This was our second visit to Arches National Park and I think we enjoyed it even more this time. We hope to visit other Utah parks in the future.

FLOWERS

The desert areas have such beautiful flowers in the spring.  I have included pictures of flowers along our travels the last several weeks.  Hope you enjoy them.

I did include an interesting dead tree. Doesn't God paint beautiful colors on wild flowers, too.

CAPITOL REEF

After spending a week in Yellowstone, we felt it was time to move on. Of course, we didn't see everything or drive down all the roads so just another excuse for returning someday. I snapped a shot as we were traveling through Salt Lake City. We will return here in July for a genealogy rally.

We did spend the night in Idaho Falls, Idaho and then moved on to Springville, Utah. This is a view from our campsite.

Katie felt she needed a nap after that trip along with some sun, although she sleeps the whole time we are traveling. That is a cat for you.

We spent several days at Torrey, Utah visiting Capitol Reef National Park. We took hundreds of pictures and it was hard to cut them down to just a few for our blog. I have included unusual rocks or maybe boulders.

There were big, dark clouds nearby. The park had many warning signs about going into washes and low lying areas when rain threatened. We were very careful, but did take some interesting roads. Allan walked down this wash a ways.

We drove down this road. The farther we drove the closer the walls of rock became. There was evidence of rocks splitting off the main wall and falling down. We were hoping not to be flattened like a pancake.

This wagon was out in a field and probably not used for many years.

There were many herds of mule deer in the park.

This is a baby possible ground squirrel. Not really sure. Mama was a few feet away. In this area I also found a small hole in the ground which looked like there were two eyes looking back at me.

PAINTED ANIMALS AND STATUES IN WEST YELLOWSTONE

In our travels we have found different painted animals through out the United States. West Yellowstone has painted bison along with statues all over town. Someone also made a unique bench that I included in the pictures. Their trash receptacles were also painted.
