BEWARE, NEW MH DRIVER ON THE ROAD

We went out to eat last Friday with the group to a fish restuarant in Lucedale, Ms.  I ordered grilled catfish and baked potato.  I could not eat the slaw.  No gumming that consistency.  I must say that was the best fish I have eaten in a long time.  I had to mush it with my fork but I got the job done.  That was the first meat I had since my surgery. 

On our way out to pay we ran into Jerry and Jackie Carter, friends from our church back in Alabaster, Al.  They were visiting family.  What a delight to see them.

We played Farkle after returning from eating.  Lots of fun with the group ended Friday.
Allan and I slept in on Saturday morning as we were not driving very far. We said our good-byes and headed to Summerdale, Al. at the Rainbow Plantation.  The storms had passed and had started to dry up some so no problem with that.  We made a trip to Camping World and then went to see Jim and Lynne Parker, friends from Magnolia Springs.  They came over to see our MH and then we went out to eat.  They were leaving in the morning to pick up their new MH.  Sunday we attended church in Robertsdale where we had worked on the church in 2009.

I had leg cramps so bad on Saturday night that I got very little sleep.  On Sunday night I decided to take a muscle relaxer in hopes to get a good night sleep without any cramps.  I woke up once with a toe cramp, sat up in bed and looked at the clock.  It was 9:45.  To say the least we got a late start.

  We had to stop for gas and diesel.  When we compared our tickets we found it cost more for the Jeep than the MH.  The Jeep was totally empty $62 + and the MH $46 +.  We wish the MH only needed that much all the time.  Allan felt like this would be a good time for me to drive the MH (first time).  Everybody get out of the way!  We drove 211 miles today which was less than we had planned, but we didn't get up in time.  Oh well, what can I say.  We are retired and in no hurry.  I did keep the MH between the lines most of the time and that silly Jeep is still following us.    It drives pretty good.  I plan to drive some more tomorrow.  Need some miles under my belt.

SURGERY

On March 7th we drove to Birmingham to get my pre-admission testing done for the surgery on the following day.  The surgery went well.  The doctor told Allan no wonder I was having so much pain in the TMJ.  We stayed with Yancy.  The following morning, which was my birthday,  Yancy,  Allan and I got up early again to take Yancy for her endoscopy.  We got back earlier than we thought after which I took a nap. I napped quite a bit for several days. The plan was to return to Mississippi and then I would drive back for my 1 week post-op appointment, but I did not feel up to driving that long distance and was not sure if I would be off pain medication.  Allan and Katie returned to Mississippi on Sunday and he returned on Friday to pick me up.  I drove back about 3/4 of the way since he was tired from the drive up that morning.  I only required a few pain pills after the surgery which was wonderful. 

I walked over to the church this week.  The guys have worked hard but the project will not be finished by Easter. 

We have a storm front coming through this week which may change our plans, but at this point we will be leaving here on Saturday morning and driving to the Plantation in Summerdale, Al if they have room for us.  This is Spring break week.  Next week we will amble our way to Sarasota, Florida to visit Allan's brother and his family.

We drove to Gulf Port, Mississippi to see the SeaBee Base where Allan shipped out to Vietnam in 1968.

Allan was asking me what I wanted for my birthday. I told him "a giraffe". This one seems to be ready for Mardi Gras.

We drove along the coast between Gulf Port and Biloxi. Katrina devastated this area. It shows a lot of work has been done here, but there were many foundations that have not been rebuilt on. I was told that this is the longest stretch of road along the coast with unobstructed view of the ocean. I have a picture of a new high rise but it is on the land side of the road.

I was able to meet with my cousin from Hattiesburg on this trip. We had not seen each other in about 50 years. There was a lot of catching up to do. I had many pictures that I needed help in identifying people. We met at a shopping mall. Several people were in the process of building a sand sculpture. Impressive!

The guys continue to work hard at the church. Someone from the outside built the fireplace which is located in the foyer.

I have included a few pictures of the park where we go walking. The park includes numerous soccer fields, tennis courts, 1/4 mile shaded walking area with playground, softball field, rodeo arena and are building a large building which holds a safe place when tornadoes hit.

I was trying to finish up my sewing projects with lots of help from Katie. She loves bobbins. They roll with little effort.

We will be leaving Wednesday for Birmingham where I will have surgery on my jaw and plan to be back here on Sunday.
