Sunday Ron and Pam Mays came by our park. We took a drive to Burlington, Vt. through lots of fog and some light rain. We stopped at a country store in Pittsfield for a few munchies for the road. Our boat, Ethan Allen III, docked and we boarded. We were seated on the top deck which was inside with windows and heat and a great view. The tour lasted about 1 1/2 hours that took us around Lake Champlain. The fog had lifted some so we were able to see some scenery. In some spots the lake is over 400 feet deep and it is the home to many sunken ships. It also flows north and stretches into Canada. We had a great brunch which included cinnamon rolls, fruit, waffles with strawberries, warmed maple syrup and whipped cream, pork roast with pineapple chutney, seafood salad, macaroni and cheese, croissants, cookies, blueberry and blackberry tarts, red potatoes, eggs Benedict, scrambles eggs and bacon and more. No surprise that they did not serve grits and we were not hungry when we left. We took a walk on the Church Street Marketplace in downtown with lots of shops and restuarts (a street they had closed off to cars). I think the walk was less about shopping and more about walking off some of that good food we had just eaten.
From Burlington we drove to Jericho to the Old Red Mill Museum that housed "Snowflake" Bentley's picture collection of snowflakes. He invented the camera that was able to take pictures of snowflakes thus advancing the idea that no two snowflakes are identical. Makes you really look at how God created everything down to the minute detail and leaves you feeling very humbled.
By this time the sun had finally come out enough to brighten up the colors of the leaves on our trip back home. We drove to the top of Killington Mountain and stopped in a few stores. The hay figures are still holding up despite all the rain. Here is another picture of Beaver Pond showing color changes.
We stopped at Kent Pond to check out the full moon and possibly take a picture and found many other people had the same idea, all with cameras in hand. One man walked up and said this looks like a camera class. They said people were lined up along Hwy 100 taking pictures of this moon. I wish the picture was better but it shows the full moon, a shimmering reflection and a full moon reflection on the pond. Neat.
We picked up some supper and brought it back to our RV.
