Stowe

Monday Ron and Pam drove us on Hwy 100 all the way to Stowe experiencing a fairly clear day until the last half of our ride back home. Hwy 100 is one of the top rated roads for leaf peeping and it did not disappoint us. Rivers and creeks run along side the road most of the way which really add to the view. As we drove farther north we could see increased reds and other colors in the mountains. What a sight!

We took pictures of Moss Glenn Falls on Route 100 and little Moss Glenn Falls beside it. This was one we just happened upon. There was a really nice, funny guy with a Mom and Pop roadside stand selling maple syrup from their farm. We enjoyed talking to him and several other people from Massachusetts, Oregon and Vermont.

We stopped at the Trapp Family Lodge located on 2400 acres which was built by the Von Trapp family who escaped Austria during WWII as you probably have seen in the "Sound of Music". It is quite pricey but has a beautiful view and well landscaped. It is built in the style of Austrian architecture. The history of this family is quite interesting and the business is still family run.

We drove to Smuggler's Notch with switch backs and huge mountainous rocks above us. While we were there we stopped at Smuggler's Notch State Park to check it out. Looks like a smaller park than ours with limited access for larger rigs. As it started raining we headed home. Had a wonderful meal at Back Behind Restaurant before we parted our ways.

Tuesday Ron and Pam went to New Hampshire while we worked at the park. We finished our painting and due to decrease in staffing we cleaned bath houses and helped the ranger with various activities.
