Our exhaust brake was not working so we put the truck in the shop for repairs and kept the rental car until Tuesday when the part came in. We used the car to drive out to the coast to Bodega Bay and up the coastline. It was a beautiful drive and the highway was on a bluff above the beach.
We stopped and watch people surfing. We saw a sea lion who kept avoiding his picture from being taken by going under water as I clicked the camera. There are many beautiful wild flowers blooming this time of year.
Tuesday we picked up the truck and did some shopping before the rain came in.
Wednesday we traveled to Garberville, Ca. and stayed at Richardson Grove RV Campground which is part of AG campground.
There is a MAPS project underway here, but our schedule did not allow us time to help. The wind was blowing hard and was cold. We walked the campground and down to the creek at the back of the property. We saw the new dining hall that is under construction.
Thursday we drove north on Hwy 101 to Klamath, Ca. We traveled through areas of redwood forests and part of Redwood National Park. Such huge trees. We stayed at Klamath River Campground located on the Klamath River which runs into the ocean just downstream.
Today we drove over the Del Norte Mountains along Smith River National Recreational Area and by Jedediah Smith Redwood State Park and part of Redwood National Park. We felt so little next to these gigantic trees. Yes, Venus we saw your Paul Bunyan and the Blue Ox (Trees of Mystery). Some of the roads were three and four lane but some were narrow two lanes hanging off the side of a mountain. I sure am glad Allan was driving, but I helped all I could. We are staying at Jack's Landing Resort in Grants, Pass, Oregon. Yes, Toto, we are in Oregon.
